The month of September in Los Alamos/ Santa Fe is my favorite month. To me, the weather is like a hug from God. And with September comes football. I don’t really have a favorite team per se, but I like the sound of football on the TV in the background as I am doing stuff around the house.
One of the lessons I learned from my dad was about rooting for the underdog. When I was around 10 I asked my dad who is favorite team was and he said I always root for the underdog. At that age I thought that was dumb, I thought everyone wanted to win the game.
Now that I am older I can see that his answer to me spoke more about the kindness of his heart. He was very competitive when he played tennis or cards, but when it came to compassion for others, he thought it was best to root for the underdog.
